Ask An Heiress: Headed To High School

11 Jul

Dear Bieber Heiress,

I’m going into high school next year, and I’ve always been shy and reserved, but I really want to break out of my shell and make new friends next year. I’ve always kept to myself, not because I really wanted to, but because I was uncomfortable putting myself out there, mainly because of insecurity? I just don’t want to miss out on the best years and so I was wondering what your advice would be to help me change that? I really want high school to be different.

Hey S,

We agree that reinventing yourself sounds like a great idea for high school! You can branch out and make new types of friends that you didn’t have before! A good way to reinvent yourself is through style! Redo your wardrobe and find clothes that fit your body type well and flatter your complexion, and you have to think they’re cute too! If you love what you’re wearing, your confidence will be through the roof! Getting a new haircut, or some hi-lites or low-lites are never a bad idea either! The best thing about style and fashion is that you can change it constantly, and use it to express every stage in your life! We recommend picking up (or subscribing) to magazines like Teen Vogue or Seventeen Magazine in order to look at the models and clothes featured, and get a sense for your taste! Are you trendy, classy, preppy, or outlandish and daring? The good thing about those magazines are that since they’re catered to teenage girls, they feature girls of all shapes in sizes in the style portions! If you’re tall and thin, really curvy, or anywhere in between you can find good style ideas!

Make sure you pick up versatile pieces that you can mix up with multiple outfits, although it’s good to get some outfit specific clothes as well! Also, don’t worry if you need to shop on a budget! While $300 jeans are great, it’s understandable that everyone can’t afford them! If you see a pair in the magazines that you really like, shop around at stores like JcPennys, Kohls, and Macy’s to find similar jeans at a price you can afford! A good pair of jeans go a long way, so make sure you have a couple! Whether they’re from Target, Macy’s, or designed by Seven For All Mankind make sure they fit well! Happy shopping, we hope this helped!

i just wanted to comment on this. i love your blogs and stuff but when the girl was asking on how to put herself out there you turned the whole thing into fashion, body types, hair styles, & fashion magazines……the EXACT pressure put on teens today by the media. she needed advice on personality, how to start up a good conversation, decide what click she wanted to be apart of in highschool, and determine herself as a person before choosing her friends so she could find common interest in them, and be herself. i do AGREE that looking good is a confidence booster…but prettying yourself up into something your not ins’t all there is too making friends. dont take this the wrong way, i love you guys! but it was just an input.

Yeah, we see where you’re coming from, but at the end of the email she asked about how she could change her style to help, so we focused on that because it’s relatable for everyone reading it on here. Thanks for the imput though, we appreciate it. 🙂
