Ask An Heiress: Freshman Fright

24 Jul
Dear Bieber Heiress,
In September I start my freshman year in High School and I’m kind of Nervous. First of all everyone is going to the same school because my school runs from 5-12th grade. I’m still kind of nervous because some people transferred so that means new [classmates are] coming in. I need help on choosing a new look; the thing is that we wear uniform (burgundy shirt with the school logo, black pants, black shoes) I don’t want everyone to know me as the same girl from 8th grade i want to be different and stand out a bit more. This summer I’ve hit the gym planning to lose some weight and my hair’s growing. I want to have a new look but my parents wont let me wear make-up or die my hair. Bieber Heiress what should i do for my return as a Freshman?

Dear Y,
With a strict uniform and rules against make-up and dyed hair, we can see how you’d feel stuck in reinventing yourself. However, like you said, trimming a few pounds will help people do a double-take when you come back in the fall, as they realize just how good you look. Don’t worry too much about make-up, guys like girls who look natural, and we know that everyone will tell you this and girls never want to believe it, but it’s true. Girls who cake on foundation and concealer “just because” are only making their skin worse, since make up clogs your pores. Keep it natural! Pop on some lip gloss and you’ll be fine! Growing out your hair is a good idea too. Don’t stress if you can’t dye it, you can mix it up for school  by trying different hairstyles and curling it occasionally to keep things fresh. Also, simple touches like keep your nail polish fresh with bright, inviting colors and mixing up the shoes you wear with your uniform are cool touches as well. On top of it all, don’t be afraid to befriend new people, and always keep an open smile! You don’t need make up or dyed hair to reinvent yourself for freshman year, just follow these simple steps and do whatever else comes to mind. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Ask An Heiress: Headed To High School

11 Jul

Dear Bieber Heiress,

I’m going into high school next year, and I’ve always been shy and reserved, but I really want to break out of my shell and make new friends next year. I’ve always kept to myself, not because I really wanted to, but because I was uncomfortable putting myself out there, mainly because of insecurity? I just don’t want to miss out on the best years and so I was wondering what your advice would be to help me change that? I really want high school to be different.

– S

Hey S,

We agree that reinventing yourself sounds like a great idea for high school! You can branch out and make new types of friends that you didn’t have before! A good way to reinvent yourself is through style! Redo your wardrobe and find clothes that fit your body type well and flatter your complexion, and you have to think they’re cute too! If you love what you’re wearing, your confidence will be through the roof! Getting a new haircut, or some hi-lites or low-lites are never a bad idea either! The best thing about style and fashion is that you can change it constantly, and use it to express every stage in your life! We recommend picking up (or subscribing) to magazines like Teen Vogue or Seventeen Magazine in order to look at the models and clothes featured, and get a sense for your taste! Are you trendy, classy, preppy, or outlandish and daring? The good thing about those magazines are that since they’re catered to teenage girls, they feature girls of all shapes in sizes in the style portions! If you’re tall and thin, really curvy, or anywhere in between you can find good style ideas!

Make sure you pick up versatile pieces that you can mix up with multiple outfits, although it’s good to get some outfit specific clothes as well! Also, don’t worry if you need to shop on a budget! While $300 jeans are great, it’s understandable that everyone can’t afford them! If you see a pair in the magazines that you really like, shop around at stores like JcPennys, Kohls, and Macy’s to find similar jeans at a price you can afford! A good pair of jeans go a long way, so make sure you have a couple! Whether they’re from Target, Macy’s, or designed by Seven For All Mankind make sure they fit well! Happy shopping, we hope this helped!
